I've got a pair of the X4s running with a Cary SLP-05 Pre and the CAD 500MB amps. I'm currently using an Esoteric UX3-SE, although I just picked up the new Accustic Arts Dac4 (and I'm curious to compare that with going analog out of the Esoteric). Wiring is all Virtual Dynamics Revelation (power cords, ICs, speaker cables). Currently I am not using any power conditioning, and the room is quite large.
Despite the quality of my system and being a huge music lover and musician, I am not the MOST experienced audiophile, but I am just floored by this system and it is the best I have heard compared to any of the dealers I have visited -- the closest being Focus Audio Master 2s with top Ayre gear.
I also have a 2nd system with MartinLogan AscentI with the droplet CD player and Classe CP-500 Pre and CA 2200 stereo amp. Thus, I have come to love what electrostatics are capable of. Yet, the Ebens do absolutely everything that I have come to love about the panels, and then do a whole lot more. They even exceed the soundstaging/imaging capabilities of my Logans -- and are the absolute best speakers I've heard in this regard -- and I think that they are more revealing, as well.
The X4s are much bigger than the X3s (which we've got in the rear of the room, which acts as a combined 2-channel and multi-channel system), and I'm sure they offer more bass, dynamics, etc., but in a smaller room, the X3s might be the better speaker, and they are also more tube-friendly.
If you like electrostatics, these speakers are for you, as Nsgarch stated. And if you don't, well I guess they still might be for you since they're not ;)
