Dynavector 10X5 , 20XH, or, other

It appears that some people prefer the 10X to the higher priced 20X. Any Audiogoners out there lived with both and could offer an opinion? Or, maybe you tried either one and didn't like it as much as... what other cartridge. Any opinions on other high output carts. welcome

I had both. The 20x I think is clearly better. To me it simply sounds like a better 10x5. Before I read you whole post I was already thinking to recommend the 17D. That is where the performance takes a big leap. That cartridge sounds so good for the money, biggest bang for the buck I've had a chance to hear. I also have the XX-2 and I think it is better than the 17Dmk 2 but there are aspects of the 17D that better it and even maybe better the Shelter 90X to some degree. I've also heard a few Grados and they seem like a big letdown compared to the Dynavector stuff.
+1 on the 17D3. It was a night and day difference from the 10X5 which is what I bought my Scout with.

OK, I know, I know. The 17 is the right choice for me and really the one I want. If overnite they magically came out with a high output version, I would go for it immediately. But, I am trying to keep from having to add a step up, cables, etc. I find that even running my phono preamp through the line stage mucks up the sound not to mention extra cables, etc. I doubt if I could be satisfied with a low priced step up transformer. Thanks Ejlif and Kmulky for your comments.
