I believe that the Murray Hill recordings were licensed from the original label that made the recording, sort of like what Time Life used to do. That made for decent performances but not the best records or pressings (for example, I have a Time Life set of Solti's Ring cycle made for Decca, and while it's OK it is not nearly as good a record as the original Decca pressings). For sound quality, I would go with the Decca recordings.
Dvorak - The Nine Symphonies - Istvan Kertesz
Hi all. I'm looking to purchase a complete LP set of the Nine Symphonies of Antonin Dvorak with Istvan Kertesz and the London Symphony Orchestra. I noticed there are two versions of this, one on Mercury (Murray Hill) and one on Decca. What's the difference between these two sets (aside from I believe the Mercury being a US pressing and Decca being a UK pressing)? Does one sound better than the other one (I suspect the Decca will sound better)?
Thanks
