You are correct. When using the digital out from a CD player you bypass it's DAC.
Dumb question - toslink
I recently bought a Music Hall Maven reciever for the family room. THe Maven has umsampling for digital sources such as cd players when connected via toslink. When you do this you bypass the DAC in the cd player, right? As I'm looking for a cd player, if I am going to connect with toslink, I can use a cd transport or a player, correct?
