I have a Cary 303/100 with the factory installed variable gain. It adds an additional remote to your system. The additional remote controls mute off and on and volume up and down. Fine tuning the volume can be tricky because it ramps up quickly. Also there is no visual indicator on the CD player to let you know where the volume is set.
