Could be the electrical service, maybe they had a bad day at the power plant. Also you may be right, if you can somehow cool the components and detect the problem diminish or disapear. Then you could confirm if it is the heat. I guess it is possible it is the heat.
Does heat affect the quality of your music
I'm curious! Today (I live in Mexico) it was a very warm day and while listening to a Diana Krall album via iTunes via my headset, I detected some clipping or tiny bursts of static in the background music, I had never noticed this before. I switched to the main system and still heard those same tiny imperfections. Am I hearing things or do you think that the heat (the Mac Pro was pretty darn warm) can have an affect on a sound card? Similar experiences? Suggestions? Thoughts?
