... ground is ground. It is either grounded or it is not ... Ground does not carry a signal.
I have read of turntables that also use the phono cable right channel neutral as a chassis ground, and I think that's what @dtgarf is asking. I have no idea why any pickup arm would be wired that way and can see no advantage. I also wonder if such a wiring scheme could be an issue when connected to a truly balanced, differential phono preamplifier.
