Does anyone use wood for vibration control?

What kind of wood have you found to be best?

Gasps with anticipation...…..

When do we mere mortals get to see/hear this revelation?
MG.

Amp is Ayre EX8
Cdp is C.E.C 3100

Rack is homemade.
Consists of 4 x 24×18x2 maple shelves basically with all thread at all 4 corners so infinitely adjustable for height and level.
But this means all shelves are not individual isolated.
Which is why I wanted to try different footers etc under the main components.

One day I will get round to building a better mousetrap! Really the legs I would like to come up with something better.
Mg.

I have a selection of toys to play with along the lines you have described.

I have Myrtle wooden blocks, brass cones, ceramic cones and lamp black glass balls/ footers.

My 2 areas of attack in my mind were my integrated amp and/or cdp.

Which have you found to yield greatest changes of those pair of pieces of equipment?
Careful Geoff... We do not need to you to do an impression of one of England's funniest music "stars"
Buster Bloodvessel .. Yep seriously, lol.
Jeez
That was probably one of your more restrained and refined posts!
Cannot see how anybody could have taken umbrage with it.

What a strange path we walk.....
⬆⬆⬆⬆⬆⬆⬆

Very nicely put Geoff.

It truly does sum it up imho.

One needs to accept that not everything can be tuned, there can be some glaring problems that need resolving before you can tune.
uberwaltz,

geoffkait and I are both serious.
And that is exactly what is most disturbing...…..
We had a classic comedy duo show in England back in the day.

Little and Large.

Sound familiar......
Interesting side note.

In our bands practice room/ recording studio... Yes sounds grander than it was!.

Covering all walls and ceilings I affixed egg cartons. In England used to supply eggs wholesale in eggcrates that were approx 24" square.

The SQ in the room while practicing and our humble 4 track recordings sounded pretty darn good to us for the cost invested.
Not quite sure where this thread jumped the shark but it sure is a doozy right now.......
What a mess!

I have about 200 albums out only and nearly all CDs have been ripped and now in boxes in the attic so ahead of the game on that score.
The peasants are revolting.......

Jafant.

I used my existing Herbies footers and lamp Black balls under the EX8, same as I had under the ax7e.

I actually used the Myrtle blocks under the cec player.
Interestingly enough, Ayre supply their latest integrated amp, the EX8 , with 3 Myrtle wood blocks .
And they are quite clear in the manual that the unit WILL benefit from them.
Also of interest about Ayre, I rang them to ask what size fuse rating on my old Ayre ax7e as I wanted to buy a SR Blue fuse for it. They were extremely enthusiastic about aftermarket fuses and acknowledged it would be of benefit.
How about that, an amp manufacturer who is actually on board with tweaks!
