Hey @tntmcdade it’s been a while since we talked. Hope you’re having a great new year.
I haven’t heard the Z2, but I’ve owned the Z3 and O2, and I’ve heard the X2.6 in multiple instances.
Whether the X2.6 or Z2 is a better fit will come down to your system components. I found the Z series to be a lot of fun, but it was much less refined than most Raidho speakers including the X2.6, along with the O2 that I owned. If your electronics project an abundance of harmonics, and you are looking for more slam on the bottom end and more detail / frequency extension on the top, the Z2 might fit the bill. But if your electronics are very linear revealing, it may result in the Z2 sounding a bit more brash than you’d like. The X2.6 and most Raidho speakers focus on delivering a slightly richer presentation at the expense of some speed and detail.
When I stepped up to the O2 from the Z3, there was a big improvement in the smoothness and articulation of the speaker, but of course the sound did not get any richer. It was an incredible speaker, tbh, but I ended up moving on to other brands, which simply felt more natural in my room. No harsh criticism on Borresen as I didn’t pair them with Aavik and Ansuz which they are meant to be paired with.
A true upgrade from the Raidho you have now would be the new Borresen C series. I heard these at CAF and was thoroughly impressed with both their presentation, dynamics, and bigger, richer sound.
Happy to discuss specifics on any of the above, either on here, or via email, which I believe you have.
