I also remember this store on West 8st in the Greenwich village area of NYC. Loaded with vinyl EMI, Decca, Harmonia Mundi , and much more. I just wish a store like them existed today with the price of then.
Discophile record store owner dies
There is an obituary in today's New York Times.
"Franz Jolowicz, the owner of the former Discophile record shop, a Greenwich Village institution that was for decades a mecca for classical record collectors... died on Nov.8.
Writing in the New York Times shortly before Discophile closed, Tim Page called it 'possibly the finest record in the world.' "
Prior to reading the obit I never heard of the store, but it is certainly an interesting read.
