digital out on sacd to in on amp. any advantage?

IM TRYING TO PUT AN AV SYSTEM TOGETHER AND IM STILL LEARNING.WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU CONNECT THE DIGITAL OUT ON YOUR SOURCE TO THE DIGITAL IN ON YOUR AMP.IS THERE ANY ADVANTAGE IN THIS METHOD OVER USING ANALOGUE CONNECTIONS.
MY AMP IS A SONY TA DA 9000ES WHICH IS SUPPOSED TO BE A DIGITAL AMP.WILL I GET PICTURE AND AUDIO,JUST AUDIO ON ITS OWN, OR PICTURE ON ITS OWN. ANY HINTS ON THE SETUP OF THIS AMPLIFIER WOULD BE WELCOME.
THANKS FOR THE ADVISE ON THE CENTRE ISSUE BEERET110

The SONY TA-DA9000ES can accept iLink digital input from a few SACD players. This would permit you to get audio into the amp but not video.
