difference between Kappa Emit series I and series II

I blew all four Emits in my VMPS RM2 loudspeakers a while back.  All else seems to be in good order and I've been looking to replace those tweeters but find it difficult to locate the series II Kappa Emits.  I see lots of Kappa Emit-R.  What is/are the difference(s) between the 2 versions?  Any reason not to install 4 of the Emit-R tweeters instead?  Thanks.

I would check the amp, there is no way you blow 4 tweeters, and not have an oscillation problem, with the amp. Second the series I RM2s you have to be careful with. They will blow the mids too, because of the low crossover point, 166 hz I think.. That was changed to 250 then 280 hz.

The EMITs is all about the ohm, there were all kinds of those things made.. Round, flat, all ribbons, but all over the map with, production...

The dual tweeter set up was changed to the AC GS2 (FST). Log on the the VMPS for sale site, A lot of good guys that may help.. The parts are getting harder to find... James Romney (SP), Stimpy, and John Casler, all nice folks and a LOT of the old VMPS Dealers, repairman, and owners...

Not so - none of the EMIT tweeters were ribbons. They are planar magnetic drivers.
I stand corrected, they are planars.. Again ohms is the trick, match the tweeters.  I thought I might have a few of the round ones here.  No luck
I have the Square, 4.5 ohm, There were at least 3 different types of those things.  He has the round ones different again.  There are at least two of those.. I have RM2s I with the AC (FST) upgrades. They had those buttons.  The XO is upgraded too.

My concern is all 4 blew not weather they were planars or ribbons.
That model of RM2 you have to be a little careful, They will self destruct if you're not careful. They sound great until they don't...

Happy hunting

Thanks guys for the input.  I was watching a movie (a lousy old movie called Spawn) that had a lot of high frequency energy during an explosion.  It took out the tweeters and you could actually see tiny trails of smoking coming from them.  I've done some listening since to make sure the mid ribbons sound right and I think they do.  Again, thanks.
Just so you know OP.. There is something WRONG... It will blow the new driver right back out.. Find the problem first. The amp is oscillating. I just hope it didn’t wipe out the crossover (the high pass). It is a QSO crossover.. Quasi Second Order.. Check the parts or risk spending good money after bed... An ohm meter and a visual inspection of the XO is easy enough...You’ll see if it cooked the cap(s) and inductor/resistor.
The inductor is hand peeled, to match the left to the right.. Brian’s Thing, the two XOs’ probably won’t look the same either... That’s ok they're suppose to be that way..

Parts Express may have something that will work...Drivers and XO parts..
