Anyone else into this series of Grateful Dead recordings?
If so, please list your fave (s) or collection.

LAte to the Party... but the Dave's picks releases are using technology to "retrieve" better sound quality than was available during the Dick's Picks era.

maybe they will re-release some selected shows from the Dick's Picks releases...

there are also some ownership issues around some recordings, e.g. Bear's Choice, IIRC
Warner owns Bear's Choice

I'm surprised if Dave L. is running out of shows to release.  They have tons of tapes (literally) and he just needs to reprocess shows that are traded, or formerly released on the Dick's Picks series if done sig'ly better.

just buy it on the used market later

looks like the GDO is doing limited releases to drive profits - sad
Dave's Picks are released in HDCD, aren't they?

seems a bit odd as HDCD seems sort of obsolete
It's truly a great time to be a Dead Head -- except for one thing...

BTW, A poster asked above about Sound Test - it is a legendary 'show" based on the band noodling around as a sound .. er... test (not people asking about a way to test the sound of the CDs)
my issues are not about them being a business, but about the artificial limitations on production runs of DavPs to create scarcity and hence high unit prices when there are other ways to support the people in the GDO

on another note, here is an old thread:

snakeyp - I think the biz model is to release a disc set with booklets, brightly colored paraphernalia etc. in a limited run; when that sells out, they open up the downloads
Where did you get the  Charlie Miller remastered 5/9/77??

BTW, I just checked and the HDCD processing seems to start at some middle point in the Dick's Picks releases, after the 'art" covers, not at the same time.

Plangent is a more recent processing improvement.

If anyone knows for sure, they might add it to the wiki on GD album releases, so as to reach the largest audience.
