DH Labs Silver Sonic Power Plus Cable / DIY Power Cords

I would be grateful for any feedback from the forum with regard to the following.

There's a some positive reviews for DH Labs Silver Sonic Power Plus which looks like a well designed high quality cable (see link below). It  has 3 x 12 AWG  copper cores which I believe will be good for my amps (400W class A mono blocks).

I can buy this cable in the UK for £40 per metre (no doubt its cheaper in the US!) and so with a UK plug (silver £10) and an IEC (Silver £20) it looks like I could build two very decent quality, 1m power cords for £140.

Any advice please as to anything I should be taking into account?
Are IEC's any harder to wire up than a standard plug?
Should i use some CAIG deoxit gold on the connections?

Thanks very much for your advice

Just a short note.

Steve,

Thanks for your thoughts on the SonarQuest plugs. I just acquired a PC with Red Copper SonarQuest plugs. As you stated they have an "iron fist" grip and the have great build quality. I've got about 90 hours on them and they sound very good.

I was not familiar with SonarQuest before purchasing my cable. It's good to hear from someone with your experience that they are a solid part.

soma70, I'll give a hearty recommendation for the SonarQuest plugs. Good luck with your project.

Cheers,

Scott
