Determining current flow to install "audiophile" fuses.

There are 4 fuses in my Odyssey Stratos amp. I recently returned some AMR fuses because they rolled off the highs and lows a little too much for me. Mids were excellent though. Anyway, I'm getting ready to try the Hi-Fi Tuning Classic Gold fuses, as they are on clearance now for $10/ea. Are they any good? However, I have read that they are a directional fuse? Can anyone confirm this? If that is the case, does anyone know the current flow for the Odyssey Stratos? Or, does anyone know how figure out current flow by opening up the top and looking at the circuitry?

brf1,444 posts04-04-2016 7:14pmIf you can hear the difference when using "audiophile" fuses, you should be able to hear the difference between the two directions.

THAT'S right to the point.

My obsessive efforts to increase personal audible sensitivity ended unsuccessfully over a decade ago. I tried to find specific nutrition, used ear-vac to remove the wax and tons of various methods including recreational drugs until I came up with so THIS hypothetical conclusion:

EYES CAN HEAR MORE THAN EAR.

Mapman,
It often happens in lands where education and learning had been replaced by training (golden ear training in particular). You can DEFINITELY make MORE money on dumb and that's the whole idea of mentally depleting population.

"  It’s why many boutique cable manufacturers have been putting directional arrows on their cables for twenty five years. Hel-loo!"

...and 25 years ago no one gave a damn about direction on signal cables
...and 25 years ago no one gave a damn about 5 cm long fuse sound quality or "upgrading" fuses
...35 years ago we had detailed instruction manual given with detailed diagrams and schematics on each component we purchased. Now they all say "don't get in or you get killed".

Evolution has reached its peak back than -- now it's indeed Devolution, degradation and retardation. Everything and everyone around you will say you're treated as idiot! The funny thing is that everyone likes it and feels happy about it thus motivating and promoting devolution. Maybe some day we'll become again Neanderthals.
Of course the average knuckle dragger on the street doesn't care about much of anything related to high end audio. There's a lot of dismissive attitudes around, but that's not a good thing.

Machina Dynamica , that you're part of brainwash equation to consider "the rest" of crowd, as I've mentioned before, idiots! No need to listen to RT -- just read your posts and everything I've said is self-evident and clear. You don't realize that most people like good sound beyond MP3 player or conventional car stereo -- even those that don't know jota about high-end wires, fuses, feet and other bunch of clap load. There's more than enough advertisement of high-end audio/video, but most of this stuff isn't affordable to average customer as it used to be. There's a large number of people that purchase and service their silver plate receivers because they almost all have schematics available and detailed user manuals AND sound GREAT no matter which direction the fuse is stuck overthere.

" Ironically the reverse expectation bias might actually explain why some people can’t hear directionality"

Geoff,

Can you recommend a qualified MD to cure my inability to hear direction of the fuse?
" Stop being engineers, real scientists would be finding out why there is a direction".

No dude, there's no science at all -- math is savvy and sufficient enough to conclude and judge. Forget the math, just use trivial elementary school arithmetic -- of course if you're savvy enough to do that.

Adding/Subtracting 5-digit arbitrary numbers without using calculator AND/OR paper-pen trains memory and logic.

It's very often pointless to mention mapman. I tried to speak from Mark Twain's stand point to the school teacher of my children, but realized that she doesn't know who he is besides mentioning more classic American and other nations writers. It rang my bell that it's time to switch to home-schooling and take them out of school ASAP.

Evidence that nation going fooled and mentally depleted is obvious and very strong starting from elementary school and ending with powerful brainwash via magazines, commercials and news having not a single word true. I parent block news channels just like porn(porn is actually OK or I'd say much better).

Indeed whatcha'll arguin' for?
The "effort" had already been invested in directionality of fuse(s) to let you all fools know why fuses are so pricey.
If you don't hear difference between directions and fuses, go to doctor OK?
Perhaps Phil needs some mo-mo-money?
Artists should go back to analogue. This way they will protect their copyrights better.
Love and support the idea
Most of sciences can be easily checked and challenged with elementary math equations:
for example:
poor education = strong police and army = lots of wars = lots of dummies that willing to spend money on various type of unnecessary cwap = resisting a free education by all possible means.
Do your math than it's easier to figure out science.

In terms of Newton's Inertia law with applied theory of limits:
If consumed lots of calories of bs per second, i agree it’s very hard to get rid of those calories. Under Inertia law one will continue consuming bs even if no external force is applied.

If anyone looks at machina dynamica product lineup, one should understand that their products relate to audio the same way the fuse directionality does.

That looks like purchase from BB&B + story how it works = 20x profit.

For some fools works...

Math can solve most of science problems indeed.
I touched that partially and seen prohibition similarity.
I do speak direct language -- you, Geoff and probably many, don’t.

George, look at Geoff's site. He's got much-more-a-plenty-more of artifacts of audio -- you'll be truly amazed and amused!

Yep, I can read minds off written notes and off the verbal conversation.
Often I take what’s meant instead of what’s said or written due to some degree of telepathy ability.

P.S. Geoff, Never go to comedy club on the first row. I always do because I can laugh back and make others laughing. Would you like any English Refresh course by any chance?
I believe that OP was just joking and perhaps laughing his AO, but Machina Dynamica takes it VERY SERIOUSLY LOL!
Rock on Geoff, Fly your thoughts free.
Peace brother!

Right, we can't just grab all details -- IMPOSSIBLE! God can take care of everything.
I have NO technical training in electronics. When it comes to math, I have a hard time with simple arithmetic. I am so old that I'm still amazed that airplanes can fly without propellers. HOWEVER,  I DO KNOW WHAT I HEAR.
oregonpapa, That's typical for most of US population and that's why fuse, hook-up speaker or component wire and other tweaks are so pricey. Not because they REALLY make difference, but because of inability of waging magnitudes of values and extremely poor math.
Math drives all the science:

The audiophile fuses industry consists of 2 parts:

Part A: CONSUMER:
Portion will "hear" somethin' and be happy and portion won't and ask for refund. The "happy" portion will generate income.

PartB: LEGEND:
Purchase fuse from mouser.com or few stones from BB&B or piece of rubber from Home Depot, attach the story or legend or other terminological abomination to get as many as possible for "happy" portion to get maximum profit.

Everyone knows that selling 'air' is most profitable -- just need to know how piece of penny can bring hundreds of $$

It depends which "units" of sense had been used.
If there are milligrams of sense than perhaps a lot more, if there are kilograms of sense than perhaps not.
vicweast68 posts05-29-2016 4:50pmWell, this thread is a test.
I read the whole thing in one sitting.
...This means I failed the test.

I am starting a web site with the sole intention of fleecing gullible people into sending me their money to pay for magic rocks. Seriously, I will be a genius and a thief all at the same time. Actually, wait... only a thief.

But wait, isn't thief genius?
