Denon DP-100M Power Issue

Hi,

I was wondering if anyone here knew how I could get hold of a circuit schematic/service manual for the Denon DP-100M. I think that owing to the relatively small production run, these do not appear to be readily available from the usual manuals outlets.

I have a power issue with my turntable. It has a 'latch' system for power up/off, in that you press the switch one and the deck powers up, pressing it again sends a signal to power the deck down. On first press, a relay engages to keep the deck powered. However, mine will not 'latch' - it can take multiple presses before it does finally stay switched on, which worries me that I may damage the deck if I am having to press the on/off switch so many times.

Has anyone here experienced this sort of issue with this or any other turntable in the Denon range? I have checked the switch, and it appears to be working fine.

Can anyone help, please? Other than the switch issue, the deck is working fine.

Thanks in advance,

Paul.

Hi,

Thank you so much for taking the time to help out! Peter, I think you may be right about the relay. I note that there is also a 7400 IC in the circuit...could it be possible that this is not working correctly?

Question - would the relay work at all if it is faulty, or does its ability to engage diminish over time?

Once again, thank you for taking the time to help,

Best Wishes,

Paul.
A relay is a mechanical part and they do wear out over time - the IC is very unlikely to have a intermittent fault. I’d replace the relay if it was me.

Best of luck

Peter
