Danny Gatton

He's often referred to as the best guitar player you never heard of. In my opinion his style is reminiscent of Roy Clark. But I'm certainly willing to defer on that point. I just heard a rendition of "Ode To Billy Joe" that blew my mind. Highly recommended.

@scottya118: I'll bet more people have heard of Roy Clark than of Danny ;-) .

What made Gatton SO remarkable was that he was not only a virtuoso (his nickname of The Humbler was well-deserved), but a master in so many styles. Jazz, Hillbilly, Rockabilly, Rock 'n' Roll, Blues, Surf, and any other music that can be played on guitar. Not many guitarists can play with both Joey DeFrancesco and Robert Gordon.
