I’ve had my stock Cornwall IVs for about 4 years and I still love them. I’m using a First Watt F7 class A power amp and Linear Tube Audio preamp with the level 3 upgrade, Aurender W20SE and Holo May KTE. The CWIVs are 1 of 3 pairs of speakers that I rotate in my basement system, the others being Devore Gibbon Super Nines (my latest purchase) and Stirling Broadcast LS3/6 BBC speakers. I also have a Pass Labs XA-25 power amp that rotate with the F7.
I’ve been curious about the XO upgrades for some time and I followed the upgrade discussion about the Don Sachs caps and resistors mods. If I ever upgrade the XO, I’ll get new modified ones and keep the existing ones stock. I saw a seller on Ebay selling his version of a hand wired XO with different caps than what Don Sachs used here:
I have no idea how this upgrade would compare to the one recommended by Don Sachs. I noticed several owners that upgraded their CWIVs have since sold them so I’m a bit skeptical about doing so.
I just noticed that Klipsch has raised the MSRP of the CWIV to $7300. Did that happen recently?
