Well I am familiar with both the TEA2 and the TEA1 series3. The latter replaced the former in my system. What can I say? I love the sound of c-j and the TEA1 series 3 is the best one yet. It is a hybrid design, dead quiet, RIAA accuracy is essential and this one is right on. In my experience it is the best phono stage I have ever used. The TEA2 is very good, but an older design. It compares well with others in my experience that often cost more. Disclaimer, I have not tried every phono stage on the market. Over the years solid state units have generally measured better than tube units being both quieter and more faithful to the RIAA equalization curve. Tube units compensated with a sweetness of sound that many found beguiling. In the past dozen years or so tube units have gotten more accurate and quieter and closer in performance to solid state. The best of them from companies like C-J, Audio Research etc have really excelled to the point where they are just a great pleasure to hear. The TEA1 series 3 is such a product.
