There are 2 x 2 (2 speakers to 2 amps) switches that you can find on-line if you search for them (Amazon, eBay, etc.). You can ignore the connectors for one set of speakers and use the switch as a 2 x 1 (2 stereo amps to 1 set of stereo speakers). Some of these switches may introduce noise to your system, so be aware of that possibility. I built my own with higher quality switches and internal wiring, and it worked well with very minimal effect if any on sound quality, but it meant also having two sets of high quality cables to amps which costs more. Eventually I removed it from my system and now I connect things manually only when I need to (I have a tube amp and a solid state amp, and sometimes I like to switch the speakers between these two). Connecting one pair of speakers to two amps? Is it possible?
So recently I bought my first stereo system which includes a record player, two speakers and a Pioneer SX-450 amplifier. I've borrowed some records and it sounds really good, looking forward to purchasing my first ones. I also have a LG sound system (SJ4R) since before which I purchased with the TV. The LG sound system consists of two surround-speakers, a soundbar, a subwoofer and an amp. Only the surround-speakers are connected with copper conductor to the amp, the rest is wireless.
What I'm wondering is if there is any way to connect the surround-speakers to both the SX-450 and the amplifier that came with the sound system?
Thought that I could use the same wire and simply connect it to both but I read that that is highly disapproved since one of the amps could be fried.
Any advice on what I can do? I'm a newbie when it comes to audio gear and would like to learn more.
