If you carefully read the Stereophile review (latest issue) of the s5, you will find that it will make 25 WPC class-A and does NOT double in watts as the impedance halves.

since these two amps cost the same has anyone compared the two?
the s5 is 50 watts class a and the s12 is 125 watts class ab with the first 35 watts i believe class a. both double in watts as the impedence halfs.
