Closed Back: Sonorous III and Dali

So I got to stop at my local stereo store. Well, one of a couple but the only one with a decent selection of headphones.

Super nice, and knowledgeable. Problem is what I'm looking for isn't what is often available: Decent closed back headphones that are comfortable and affordable.

The only one I could find physically comfortable were the Sonorous IIIs. Actually super nice headphones, at $399, with very useful noise isolation and very comfortable ear pads. What a wonderful midrange, and played exceptionally well from my phone alone as a source (LG V30). Unfortunately for me the particular model hyped up the bass and the treble. Mind you, it did so very smoothly and without distortion, so it was not as unpleasant an experience as you might think, I just know from the past I could not listen to them for long.

My listening session was interrupted by a demo of the speakers right next to me. Might as well not have been in the store. Thanks guys.

But I learned something. The young man who helped me said the Sonorous IIIs were the owners favorite. Listening to the speakers, I could tell what was going on. The Dalis had the same extended treble of the Sonorous, so it was kind of interesting to hear a person's tonal tastes in both speakers and headphones.

I may try to find a store that carries the IIs sometime, I understand that they are more neutral.

Best,

E

Did you hear the Audioquest Night Owl closed back headphones?  Very addictive sound for 399.  Very comfortable too, comes with 2 different types of ear cushions.
