Cleveland, OH

Anyone in the NE Ohio area that are still stalwart 2 channelers?
How about those of you who got rid of their stereo gear to go HT
only to regret it. Are you out there? COMMENTS

I'm in Sandusky and am interested. I just emailed Marc (null1)in Toledo last week about forming a club and he and 2 other Toledo guys would be active. I also know a long-time audiophile that moved to North Olmstead that would be interested. Lets all get together.
Andy,

When 2-channel was king in the 70’s and 80’s, we had a group in the greater Sandusky area that met between 2-3 times a month to listen. The group consisted of 8-10 people and we never had a problem finding a willing host. Things have changed dramatically since then due to the advent of home theatre; however, 4 of these guys still live in the general area and would probably like to participate. I know of another 3 that live in Toledo that would drive periodically to Cleveland or closer.

The bottom line is that the Ann Arbor / Detroit group meets one a month on Sundays and they have anywhere from 5-15 people at those meetings. Pretty informal – listening – eats – talk. They usually don’t have any problem getting host homes. This is an easy format to initiate. I’m all for visits to stores also if the group is up for it.

As far as how far I’ll drive, I have gone to 3 of the Detroit meetings @ 2-2 1/2 hour drive times and meet pretty regularly with a friend in Toledo. Most of the group attended the Detroit audio show last year. I have driven 7 hours to a CD player shootout in Chicago. I have driven overnight many times to hear new gear at stores far out of state. I’m pretty serious about the hobby and distance is not an issue. The group I know feels about the same.

As far as the other info you are looking for…..I shop/read Audiogon at least twice a week. I’ve bought equipment from many retail shops around the country as well as used stuff online. I have good friendships with John and Bob at Golden Gramophone, Mike at Audio Visions, and Art at Genesis Audio. Our group bought (4) Tympani 1D’s, (4) Audio Research SP6A’s, (3) Threshold 400A’s and (2) Audio Research D52B’s in one day in 1984 from GG.

Please email me with any additional info you need to put this together.
Sunday the 29th at 2:00pm will be the first organizational meeting. I will email some other interested people directly. Please do the same.

Email me if you plan on attending - also if you can't make it this time, but plan on joining. This will be the planning meeting so that we can decide on club format, meeting times, and any other activities.

I will give you my address and directions upon your email.

The meeting for this Sunday at 2:00pm is on as planned. Wives/girlfriends are welcome as my wife has a short shopping trip planned for a few local stores. There will be snacks and drink. We will get the club format planned. We can do a little listening as well.

So far, we have 7 confirmed attendees.

Anyone wishing to attend that I have missed that wants directions, please email me.
Sorry Brownsanandy, Jim Frank and I are the only members the "Cleveland" audio club. Six others that confirmed they were coming did not show. Four others that said they hoped to make it didn't. Three including you said that they would make it another time. This makes a "maybe" audio club as far as I can tell.

I stepped up to the plate because I thought there was interest. There clearly isn't enough to take this thing forward. Gentlemen, two-channel in Ohio is dead. Actually, dedicated audiophiles are the true dying breed. We are the ones who would drop everything at a moments notice to drive 2-3 hours to hear the latest preamp. We would drive any distance if a fellow audiophile needed help or just an opinion on their latest acquisition. We love the music, the passion for the experience, the sharing of knowledge, meeting fellow audiophiles, and the equipment equally.

There are audio hobbyists. There are few audiophiles
I am disappointed.

I went last year on Sunday and two manufacturers closed thier rooms at 1PM. Blue Note was one of them. I thought it was unethical since we paid $15 to get in. It is advisable to go on Saturday if possible

It is a nice place to pick up recordings and hear some vintage equipment.
Back in this after a 9 year absence. Would love to get something going again in NE/NW Ohio
OK. Let me look at my schedule and get back to you. I have someone here that will also attend. I'm in Huron, will that work for you?
Looks like we have a good start. I'll be back here with some meeting options tomorrow
effischer - Don't typically hang at Marconi's or the Bull  I live in Lakefield Manor so it's Kokomo's for me. Food ain't great but the pizza and beer is.
Would love to do an initial meet & greet potentially Saturday morning - maybe breakfast somewhere? We could plan the what, where, and when for a first meeting and listening session. We can also get a great idea of times and availability of each member for planning. Thinking about a 9am meet at a restaurant - maybe Vermilion? - so it's not as far for 2psop initially. Hey I'm opened for suggestions and am willing to host the first meeting after the initial meet & greet. Let me know your ideas. Since it's easier to set up a group email in outlook, please contact me: tjroberts at bex dot net. Hopefully spelling it out will avoid the Audiogon filter
We have a launch. The Erie Audiophile Club is meeting for the first time at 6 pm Monday the 25th. We will be doing an initial meet & greet at Kokomo's outside patio at the Keys in Huron OH. This will be a time to talk audio, music, and to plan additional meetings. All subsequent meetings are expected to take place at members homes for listening sessions and audio talk. Anyone within driving distance is welcome.
Erie Audio Club 2nd meeting is set for October 15th at 7pm. Email for directions.
NEXT MEETING of the Erie Audio Club:
Saturday November 18th @ effischer.

Please email for the address....show up between 5-10pm
Evidently I overstepped by boundaries. Anyone wanting to attend should email member effischer first.
Good meet last night! Planning another for next month. Com'on over Cleveland audiophiles, we are only an hour away!
