Cleaning speaker cabinet? NHT 2.5i
For high gloss black painted speakers I've always just used a damp cloth followed by a dry soft towel. It does a fantastic job IMHO. I also just use a damp cloth followed by a soft towel for my electronics, TVs and audio racks. It works well and no need to worry about chemicals damaging the finish. Enjoy, TIC |
A product that's worked very well for me with piano-black finishes is Meguiar's Quick Detailer, applied carefully with a microfiber cloth. It cleans smudges and leaves a very light polished finish. |
Thanks for the helpful responses guys. I actually posted the same question on a different forum and got a response of using Meguiars® NXT Tech Wax coupled with their microfiber detailing cloths. From these responses too, it looks like waxing is the way to go. The guy on the other forum basically said he wiped them down with a damp rag, let dry, and waxed afterwards - is this how you guys do it also? Is there any need to clean with anything besides water before waxing? |
I have THE answer. I use a product called PLEXUS. It was deigned for aircraft plastic windshields and is primarily used for motorcycle windshields.(bike owners are as picky as audiophiles about their babys) I have used this on any motorcycle plastic parts for years. IT IS THE BEST. I use it on my mirror finish JL Audio subwoofers.Sold at most motorcycle shops. Note I spay it on my turntable cover(25 year old table) and it looks as good as the day I bought it. Interesting, you think that would work better than wax? I wouldn't use furniture cleaner as I've heard it can have potential to damage the finish (though i'm sure it works for many). I figured I would try some wax though (like that NXT tech wax) as the guy on the other forum actually used that on his NHTs and said it worked very well, but maybe this Plexus stuff would be better? I just read about it online and it looks pretty interesting.. |
