Yes, not a good sign, unfortunately. Components do degrade over time, from heat and stress. Capacitors go bad especially.
Classé CP-700 Preamplifier Preamp Shutting Down
I started finding my always on CP-700 completely turned off more often. A push on the power button and selecting input and I can watch all night. It does not run hot and I have at least 6" on top with the components below it being two very cold Furman conditioners.
Until now in always on mode as recommended in the manual, used mostly used to color the front stage in SSP mode, i.e. A/V processor bypass mode.
I reprogrammed my Harmony 659 to shut the CP-700 down completely when powering system off with all activities now.
This for now solves the problem.
Should I not worry more, or is this a sign something will fry soon? Should I test the external PSU?
With anticipated thanks!
