Class D is just Dandy!

I thought it was time we had a pro- Class D thread. There's plenty of threads about comparisons, or detractors of Class D.

That's fine, you don't have to like Class D amps, and if you don't please go participate on one of those threads.

For those of us who are very happy and excited about having musical, capable amps that we can afford to keep on 24/7 and don't require large spaces to put them in, this thread is for you.

Please share your experiences with class D amps!

higher switching frequency moves it further from the range of human hearing and enables "kinder, gentler" filtering
I always thought the gentle filter slope was b/c steep "brick wall" filtering caused audible distortions...

I do agree that the amplifier is the closest component most of us have that is near perfection.  Speakers, room tmts, DACs, source material... all are in more need of improvement on a relative basis.
what are the cheapest Class D amps that will make me get rid of my Sunfire amp?

i.e. better SQ than that one and equal power at 4 ohms
"Ask not where you can buy Class D
Ask what Class D can do for you"

So, besides saving on power bills...

or working well inside a small kef speaker...

Will a Class D amp sound better than A or AB??

Will it be a lot cheaper?
Can anybody list very affordable great sounding Class D amps - say below $2,000 for a stereo pair, and better or comparable SQ to a Sunfire amp?
it was posted in a review of news from the Munich show - it is somewhere on computeraudio.com
I also saw news on a new Class D amp from Constellation with very high switching freq. - dunno if it uses GaN devices...

60 kHz, IIRC
Mytek's new amp

cost about $2,000; avail. summer sometime

2x 300 W/ch into 8 ohms

same faceplate look as the DAC; silver or black

they claim: “triode Class-A sounding Class-D” design

if they can pack a small box with a Class A triode sound for $2,000 they will have a lot of sales...

rather than attacking the dissenter in your little circle, you might pay attention to what he is saying

now, I am interested in hearing the new class D from Mytek, even tho I seriously doubt they use Ga
