CJ Premier 11 amp versus PrimaLuna EV 300

I am currently using a CJ Premiere 11 amp with a PrimaLuna EV 300 pre-amp. Sounds really good but was considering getting a PrimaLuna EV 300 amp. Would it be worth doing considering how well the system currently soundsĀ

Hi Skip.

I'm a big fan of C-J equipment.

I ran a Premier 17LS with a premier 11 a for many years.

I also ran a C-J EF1 phono stage with the above.

I found the bass to be lacking, so purchased a C-J MF 2250 solid state amp, and tried bi- amping.  That didn't work out very well.

I finally sold the 11a and purchased a C-J LP66S tube amp which has a small amount of negative feedback.  This helps the base tremendously!

Then I went wild during Covid and bought a pair of SVS sub woofers.  Non ported with foot isolation on the floor.

I am currently very happy with this setup!

I know this doesn't directly answer your question, but I hope my experience will help you with your delima...

I am a big fan of Conrad Johnson and have heard it a lot and many of my friends own it. I own Prima Luna. In general it is not in the same league... although the CJ amp you are using is very old.

Personally, and I like musical equipment would be looking to upgrade to a newer CJ amp and long term replace the Primaluna preamp with CJ. But to me musical equipment is most important. If you want more detail I would look at Audio Research.

Thanks for the response. I eventually got EVO 300 mono blocks to go with the EVO 300 pre amp. I am extremely satisfied. A very nice sound
