Chesky Audio LC1 bookshelf speakers - a sonic bargain!

After reading the fantastic reviews on this bookshelf speakers, heard them myself at this AXPONA and they sounded fantastic.  The room was packed.

As I listened, Sandy Gross (founder Polk Audio, GoldenEar..) walked by and remarked they sounded great.

Only 1k/pair - sonic bargain!

Applaud quality 1K/pr. speakers.  That means someone can assemble a modest respectable system for around 3K.  Perhaps a solid introduction to the hobby.

Some of this discussion speaks to really a much larger issue; the near complete non-recognition and/or appreciation of quality reproduction of music.

A friend's son (38) moved to Germany for work.  When offered help from dad with an audio system for his small apartment, his son's response was immediate; "so I can plug my laptop computer into it."  That's it, the summary.

The understanding by large majority, or better misunderstanding, that basic streaming off whatever is as good as it gets is near universal.  Something that makes noise, I'm in.  Period.

We are practicing dinosaur thinking here.  It is immutable that there will be mass cheapness and really high-end with somewhat respectable "midfi" carved out and tossed.  You either drive whatever has 4 wheels and an engine or a luxury auto.  I don't like it, just recognize it for what it is.  In this case, I pray I'm completely wrong.
