CD's Deterioration

I have a couple CD's that have suffered this. I've provided a link to an article in USA Today on this. It's also interesting on what they have to say on CDR brands.

Should we be able to get are money back on these CD's? The industry marketed CD's and their inflated price in part based on the "indestructible format". Probably not, but I like to complain sometimes.

According to someone on Audio Asylum the problems relates to manufacturing faults at a single European CD pressing plant in the mid 1980s. They found out what was wrong, corrected it and offered free replacement CDs.

BTW, a similar problem occurred with some Laserdisc.
