Cary Audio CD Player 306/200 Upgrading a transport

I purchased the Cary Audio 306/200  CD Player in 2004 for its retail price of $5000.00.  I later purchased a Chord Qutest Dac and the sound improved and I began to use the Cary exclusively as a transport. I recently purchased a Weiss DAC 204 and the sound improved once again. Here's the question, would upgrading to an Audiolab 9000 transport  currently retailing for $1500.00 be an improvement over the Cary CD Player? There are also other transports such as the Shanling ET-3, Jays Audio CD transport, MK III and Leak Audio CD transport. I find the Cary build like a tank and is all steel. But has cd transport technology improved in the last 20 years?  Thanks for the input.

Cary  306/200 is a front loader.  Don't know anything also about Philips tray.

Save your money. Digital playback is not like analog where better/more costly mechanical engineering produces better sound. If whatever digital device - CD/DVD player -  is used to extract the digital stream the 0's and 1's don't care. They are all the same.

Using the Bricasti renderer is way better than a Cary 303 I used a transport through AES. There was a big decrease in distortion.  I have not tried another CD transport. Extrapolating with digital chains can be misleading, but I would try a new CD transport that came with a trial period.
