Buying used from Canada

Hi, if you are based in USA and you buy used hifi from Canada do you get taxed on it when it arrives?  Talking about $2000ish.  Or if you use fed-ex will it come straight through?  Thanks for your time

@mylogic + 1 - I think that's a wise decision for you.

@pdreher + 1 - and so many others, all around the world.

@mylogic great decisions for yourself and family, wish I could move to outside the USA but young family (grandkids) prevents the move. I try not viewing the news anymore and just go about my own business but easier said then done.

My understanding:

1. No tariff on made in USA products imported from Canada
2. Canada Post is the cheapest way to ship from Canada to the US but customs clearance takes significantly longer than FedEx or UPS

@spoutmouzert I can't comment on importing into the US, but have imported in to the UK from the US, Canada, Mainland Europe, Australia and the Far East.

Some products brought In are bespoke, so have to rely on the idea, a supplier if at the time of a fault occurring will assist, be it ask for the device back, or converse with a UK based Tech' being asked to look into the fault.

Other Products brought In are more common but will have a design that is compatible with the Country of Origin, especially Operating Voltages.

Some Product might be quite rare as a item within your own Country.

It is best to inform on the Item being looked at to be purchased, the approx' Value Only at $2Kish does not allow anybody to advise if there is adequate support at hand to assist if the time arises it is needed.

An Older Generation and maybe even more recent model of a Martin Logan or Magnepan Speaker is a hard sale in the UK for the reasons of not having a sound knowledge of available maintenance only.
