Brentworth Sound Labs Speakers - Opinions?

Hey everyone! New member, my first post. Back in the late 20th Century I picked up a pair of Brentworth Sound Lab crossover-less speakers from the designers, one of whom was (is?) a Cornell University Professor of Mechanical Engineering. This was late-stage development, right before they started marketing them in earnest. I auditioned them using a Jazz At The Pawnshop CD and the imaging and detail were quire remarkable. The designer explained this was a direct result of the crossover-less design and I just had to have them.

Anyway, I was recently searching for information on them and saw a few references on this forum, which compelled me to join. Wondering if any of you might have experience and/or opinions on these unusual speakers.

I first heard them at North Country Audio in up-state NY in the mid 90s. I was impressed at the time but not enough to shell out the very considerable $.

A friend did buy a pair of the model 3s (I think there were two models, the 1 and 3) and used them for a number of years. I heard them many times in his room and was impressed by their speed and transparency. They were excellent for small group jazz and classical but did not reproduce large orchestra at all well. I thought the bass foundation was particularly lacking.

Art Dudley reviewed the model 3 for The Listener and it was the most negative review of any product I have ever encountered in an audio publication. I did not feel his review was fair or accurate (I have been told that his listening room at the time was too small) but I trust he reported what he heard.
