I first heard them at North Country Audio in up-state NY in the mid 90s. I was impressed at the time but not enough to shell out the very considerable $.
A friend did buy a pair of the model 3s (I think there were two models, the 1 and 3) and used them for a number of years. I heard them many times in his room and was impressed by their speed and transparency. They were excellent for small group jazz and classical but did not reproduce large orchestra at all well. I thought the bass foundation was particularly lacking.
Art Dudley reviewed the model 3 for The Listener and it was the most negative review of any product I have ever encountered in an audio publication. I did not feel his review was fair or accurate (I have been told that his listening room at the time was too small) but I trust he reported what he heard.
