ARE YOU A DEALER!!!!!!!!!!!
AND/OR DO YOU HAVE ANY COMMERCIAL AFFILIATIONS WITH THAT CABLE?????
JUST WONDERED!!!!! |
I thought we were talking about firehose sized cables..... |
In December of 2000, I never imagined in my wildest dreams that "Biggest Baddest Audio Cables" would be my most enduring thread.
After all of the things we have discussed here, I don't know whether I am more flattered or more horrified.
But please do continue your recommendations for "anaconda sized" cables with "unusually well made connectors".
Cheers.

Have any of you tried the "Biggest, Baddest" PS Audio xStream speaker cables, now dramatically discounted on some of the audio websites?
Further to this classic, timeless thread, they allegedly weight 2 pounds per foot!!
With those "anaconda" credentials, I almost don't even care what they sound like, but it would be great if any of you could recommend them, particularly for taming brightness.
I have been just on the brink of ordering all new cables from signalcable.com, but perhaps these are worth a try?
Forget WAF - bigger is still better. |

I first experimented with high end cables around 1979, when a friend gave me a set of Fulton interconnects which I used between my Hafler amp and preamp.
I would not say I am an expert, but I have learned one or two things in my 26 years of study.
There are other threads that discuss "other aspects" of cabling, but THIS thread is devoted to the "Biggest, Baddest Audio Cables" where pounds/foot could be one of the the most important variables to analyze.
Beyond that, if anyone has also listened to the PS Audio xStream cables, I would be curious to hear any feedback or advice. |

re "A MANS CABLE"
now we are getting this thread back on track!
thank you
for those of you interested in BIGGEST BADDEST PS audio cables at deep discounts, there is another thread saying they are a bit "dark" |

From the Shunyata Site:
"Can the products be easily handled and manipulated?"
"All Shunyata cable products are lightweight -- some weighing only a few ounces, easy to maneuver and extremely flexible"
Sorry, but I want big, bad cables to also WEIGH as much as possible.
If it wasn't already obvious, this thread has nothing to do with convenience, practicality, economy, or wife approval factor aka "WAF".
No, just the BIGGEST and BADDEST, please.
cheers

As the author of this thread from the year 2000,
I respectfully suggest that the so called "speaker connectors" mentioned above should not be included in a peer group of "BIGGEST BADDEST AUDIO CABLES."
Rather, they might be recategorized in another thread devoted to "WAF Disasters" or "Weirdest Tweaks".
Let's get back to BIG and BAD.
Cheers,

In another thread, someone mentioned that the flexible 4 AWG as sold by partsexpress.com for about 2 bucks a foot is pretty darn close to the insides of certain mega buck, monster cables.
So another idea for this timeless thread: is there some way we could twist together 2 or even 3 strands of the 4 AWG and terminate it? |
I'm with Mapman
Rodge827, you sound like...... a DEALER!!!! I notice in the speaker forum you recommend OMEGA!!! OVER 25 times!! As an answer to EVERYTHING!!!!! WHILE OFF TOPIC!!!!! LIKE YOU ARE JUST NOW!!!! WOW!
Back to biggest and baddest, please. |
Rodge827,
I said "over 25".
In fact and on review, it looks like you posted thinly veiled advertising for Omega speakers 31 times, with a similar use of exclamation points suggesting an agenda.
You also posted a telephone number of the dealer or distributor, with a tell him I sent you kind of a tone.
As I have said in other threads from time to time, I am very devoted to this forum which began as place for enthusiasts to compare notes and share their experiences and enthusiasm for audio.
Many people here have been unselfishly helping others for years, and offering advice for beginners to get started by recommending bargains on the used market, which also serves the site.
In my view, the founders were wise in knowing that a gathering of passionate and unbiased experts would establish a foundation of credibility, after which they could accept ads, charge classifed fees etc.
In my opinion, the idea was not for people with commercial affiliations to lurk around the forums and try to steer people to products, while masquerading as helpful enthusiasts.
So I will continue to speak out when threads are hijacked by people where a quick review of their posting history suggests shameless self promotion or stuffing the ballot box in response to sincere questions.
In terms of what I described as a "fetish", the definition includes the worship of inanimate objects which are assumed to have special or magical powers - like oversized speaker wire.
I believe your attempt to insult me with a cheesey sex joke says more about you and your preferences than it does about me.
With that, I do hope we can get back to the enduring topic of biggest, baddest audio cables and wish you good luck.

Dear cornfedboy, "firehose size" is exactly the metaphor I had in mind...I get giggly just thinking about them...did you say FIM? Is Winston a company? Thanks for the suggestion. |
