Best Sub Rel or Muse

I am looking for a high quality sub suitable for both music and HT. I've heard the Muse 18 and Rel Storm series are good. Which is the best? Also any other recommendations in the 12-1400 range used would be appreciated. My front speakers are Vandy 2CE's. Thank you for taking the time to help me. Rick

Both are fine products. I use REL and one of the great design features is that the subwoofer is not in the path of the main speakers. There's also no need for extra interconnect runs. However, Muse has their personality cards. I obviously prefer the REL, but I doubt you can go wrong with either.
You might also look into a used Paradigm Reference Servo 15 or Velodyne HGS series servo subs. The Paradigm has a continuously variable phase feature which simplifies placement. Regards
I haven't heard the Muse yet, but my REL Strata II is everything that Robert Harley says it is in the review at REL's website.( WWW.rel.net). Check it out. If the Strata II is that good I am sure you will be happy with the Storm. I love the line level input feature. It enables the sub to truly keep pace with the mains.
I SHOPPED FOR MY SUB FOR THREE YEARS.MADE IT AN OBSESSION.I BOUGHT A REL STADIUM. I'VE GOT A BIG ROOM-STONE WALLS-WOOD FLOORS,PLASTER,ETC. THE REL IS INCREDIBLE.IN FACT,IT IS SEAMLESS W/THE REST OF MY SOUND.YOU HAVE TO LISTEN AND COMPARE.THAT'S WHAT I LEARNED.HAVEN'T HEARD MUSE OR THE NEW BAG END PRODUCT.THEY'RE PROBABLY VERY GOOD. I'M NOW PREAMP/AMP SHOPPING.PROBABLY KILL ME.VERY COMPLICATED.HOW CAN SO MANY VARIED PRODUCTS BE RATED SO HIGH?
If you want to save up some ... go for the REL STENTOR model, it will blow away the smaller models really. And than there's the STUDIO... all discussions ended. Its not just about BASS.. hear it feel it never depart of it ....
buy a *pair* of vmps - even their larger subs can be had for less than $1200 - the *pair*! two subs are a *must* for proper imaging/soundstaging & integration w/monitors. for your price range, ewe can pick up a cheap used hi-power amp, & get a used active x-over, if yer on a budget.
For $2000.00 or less the Paradigm Servo 15 takes on and beats all comers. Very musical sub and awesome for hometheater. List is $1500.00 but can be had for $1200.00 to $1300.00. The lower end Rel subs aren't in the same league in regards to output. Stereophile class B rated pushing class A with some setups. I run this sub with Kef Referece 4's and is awesome.
Vanderstein subs are by far the best I have heard, made my velodynes (soon sold) sound like automotive subs. Cost of new subs ~1300 each. Richard Vanderstein would probably be happy to talk with you about integration with your 2ce's.
