Best place to get value on these pieces of equipment and how to find new homes (Roomful)

My 68 year old brother recently passed away and he was a lover of music and audio equipment from his teen years.  He has 3 turntables set up in his living room.  I know my sister and I are choosing to keep a turntable each and she probably a receiver and set of speakers. I can use one of either a newer Bluetooth Yamaha or Sony receiver I have and my husband has a set of MartinLogan’s that I may use but my brother also has a pair of small triangular shaped Advents I’ve always wanted so I may get those too.  But anyway, here’s a list of what I was able to gather from pictures I took of the front and backs of the equipment. There are 3-4 sets of large speakers I didn’t get info from because they were a PITA to get to the info and they were too heavy to move around easily.

1) Bose 901 Active Equalizer II

2) Advent Model 300

3) Sharp Cassette Desk Rt-100

4) Kenwood CD Player  DP-R4070

5) Nakamichi AV-7 AV Receiver

6) Technic Turntable SL-150MK2

7) Denon AVR-785

8) Panasonic DMP-BD80 Blu-ray Player

9) FX Audio

10) Sony BluRay BDP-S590

11) Sony VHS SLV-779HF

12) Yamaha AV Receiver -RX-V861

13) Bob Carver Power Amp TFM-12

14) .?? 8A70

15) Magneplanar 6 Loudspeakers MG-IIA

I’m not even sure what a couple of these things are, and of course, the BluRay players and VHS are not a concern, and there are, I think 3 other pieces on his bookshelves in his dining room. I know one is another turntable. These aren’t plugged in or attached to anything and I didn’t get any specifics on these pieces but I am going back to his house this weekend and might then. I am presuming they might not work although he had a 2 year degree in electronics and I’m guessing would have fixed them if they were worth the time and energy.

Any ideas you guys could offer up on value and how to best find new homes for these pieces would be deeply appreciated. And if they are pieces of junk, please don’t hesitate to say so.  Won’t hurt my feelings.  😊

Except for 13 & 15 everything else is pretty much mid-fi level at best. Look them up for value on eBay and sell on Craigslist.

Ouch, most of the stuff you listed is fairly pedestrian. The SL-150MK2 might be a good sale item. Mostly 50, 100, 200 dollar stuff.

Thank you both very much! I wasn’t expecting anything really high end so no surprises here. And I’ve always said I wanted those tall Magneplanar speakers and may come to regret my decision, but upon reflection I don’t think I want anything that large.

Upon looking into other things, he had an old Sony Wega Trinitron TV that is supposedly popular with gamers. A couple have sold recently on eBay for $10-20, but several have sold for $400+. NOT that I’m shipping it anywhere, it’s 200 lbs. Also paramedics or the police cut the electrical cord to move the TV out of the way, the night they found him, so I’ll be lucky to find someone who might want it and can replace the electric cord.

Thank you again for your info and suggestions. Much appreciated!

The Advent 300 is a very popular item on eBay. (It also represents a small piece of audio history). Assuming it is fully functional and in good cosmetic condition it could fetch up to $200. If by chance you have the original box/inserts/owner's manual, etc. it might go as high as $300.

Thank you! He does have most the manuals and remotes for any equipment that came with a remote. He also has a lot of boxes around but I doubt it’s for some of the older equipment.

if I’m planning on setting up a turntable at home, with receiver and speakers, would there be any need for me to keep some of the additional things that I’m not sure what they are, like that Bose equalizer or whatever the Bob Carver thing is?  Appreciate your comments and any suggestions.
