Benchmark DAC1 vs Sony SCD-1, 777 etc

The Benchmark offered a slightly different sonic presentation using it with my Sony SCD-777ES. I think there is a company that mods the DAC and makes it very competitive. I would call the sonics combined with the Sony better in most areas but not too significant. I prefer tubes and ended up with an Audio Logic older model DAC that offered a more 3D presentation and more real mid range IMO.

I prefer the DAC 1 over the redbook of my XA-777ES. I use my 777 as a transport for the DAC 1 when playing redbook. The DAC-1 sounds more natural to my ear.
