Tube amps with an output impedance of one ohm and greater will function as audible tone controls as the signal tracks the speaker's impedance curve. The response will not be flat/accurate. Add to that the variable quality of today's tubes and reliability issues.
BAT VK-56se
To scratch the upgradeitis itch, I’m thinking of getting a BAT VK-56se tube power amplifier. I’m currently using a BAT VK-33 tube preamp and a BAT VK-225se solid state amplifier. Have always used a tube pre with a solid state power amp. My current combo sounds great, so was wondering what I might expect with a tube amp in my rig. TIA.
