If anyone starts up a group, formal or informal and has any get togethers, I would love to hear about it. I am honestly not aware of any groups in the area, but there has to be some as well as Gramaphone's business is booming around this town..
Well unless I made a mistake, and will have to check with my other half, I should be able to go to a Jan 13th meeting. I am up near Aberdeen (about half way between Baltimore and Deleware) so Columbia is a bit of a drive, but still not so far I wouldn't try and make it.

Depending on who all wanted to show, guess someone can host it in house, or we could talk to one of the high-end A/V places in the area to see if we can use a meeting area. I think someone here wasn't a big fan of Gramaphone for buying gear, but know they have nice conf and theater rooms down in Columbia, and I would be open to any other vendors that would host as well, I just know where they are..
I could probably make it to Annap, but would sure love something closer to Baltimore if possible. I say that as for me personally takes about an 1:15 min to get near Annap on highway, so by the time I got to ones home, I have about a 3hr round trip, lotta driving for sure.

Maybe I am the odd-ball out, and it's only far from me, if so I say do it, but might be nice to see where everyone is and find a middle spot if possible, as gas prices sure are a bite in the ass now days.. :)
Hehe, I'll drop you a note as to your address, I am pretty sure I can attend, just need to make sure my other half isn't working that day.

As to the game, how the heck are you going to demo and evaluate audio with the game on, that should be a trick.. :P
Well I tried to reach you Sang, but guess either my eMail didn't make it, or something. As it's 11am, I am going to guess I will be unable to make the days events as I have no directions. Have fun all, and I hope you all plan another ge t together again that I have the chance to attend.

Regards...
Strange on the eMail, as I have never gotten any type of bounces. Maybe a spam filter or something got me, who knows.

Glad the event went well, and hopefully we can keep enough interest going to keep some type of periodic get together happening in the future..

Glad to see we have a nice group of interested people here, and I look forward to meeting you all.

If we are all going to try and stay in touch, any interested in maybe setting up a mailling list we can all message back and forth through for such events as I know we don't want to post addresses a public information here.

As I work in computers/internet for a living, it would take all of 10 minutes to create something like mdaudio.org or maybe mdaudiophile.org so we had in essence a home base for us to all use. From there we could create an opt-in maillist that interested parties could request to join, and send mail/info for the group to see so it would be redistributed.

Just a thought.. If any are interested I am happy to make it all happen...

Well my intention wasn't for any specific purpose or agenda, just trying to find ways to help keep communications open between everyone.

I don't think what I was talking about required some big organization or infrastructure to make happen, but guess that's cause I have done so much stuff like that over the years.

I just thought it might be nice to be able to email to to xyz@mdaudio.org or @baltimoreaudio.org and communicate with all interested people in the area (where xyz can be whatever). Then if we wanted to have a meeting, or to announce anything it could be done in a web page.

I talked a little to Paul in eMail, and what has been done to start is great. We can roll with that, or if there is enough interest/desire by the group I am happy to register a domain name for us to use as well. I mean we are only talking about a ten dollar investment..

I guess the bottom line is, it looks like the start of a nice group to start, and anything we can do to keep it going is great in my opinion..

Quoting Hartwerger:
Anyway, I'm just throwing the idea out there for discussion since following all the communications as a "club" seems much more cumbersome on Audiogon than it is on Audiocircle (no offense Audiogon).

Wow, I went and looked at AudioCircle, and that sure didn't look any less confusing to me. I have run a few forums, and it's all quite easy. Also looking at audiocircle, unless I was just lost and didn't find the right spot, I saw very little sign of any real activity.

I think it would be neat even as an informal group, to take and see if some of the local A/V shops would let others know of our arranged gatherings, and we might dig some other interested xphiles out of the woodwork. We should for sure stay vendor, and reseller neutral.

Anyway I have joined the Yahoo group, which is a good start. If any would like to register an official domain name for the group and venture down that path, I am happy to take care of that as well.

Great to see some interest.. :)
