Audioquest Red River vs. Big Sur interconnects

I've been adding Audioquest cables to my rig, NRG 3 and 4, Sydney RCA interconnects, and the latest is the Mackenzie XLR IC's for pre to amp(which I've yet to install as rig is temporarily packed away).

Anyway, a big help for me was a multi cable comparison done on youtube by a guy who's got a pretty good youtube channel, comparing and reviewing various audio products with a pretty good approach.  He demoed each cable on a lower budget system as well as a higher end system :

He covers the Red River AND Big Sur among several others.  If I recall, he thought best bang for buck was the Sydney.

While I don't have direct experience with the cables listed, I think either one will likely be a safe choice. All of the copper AudioQuest cables I've used which consisted of silver-plated RCA/spade connectors contributed to a brighter, thin sound. I personally favor gold-plated connectors over silver ones for this very reason.

I have owned many of the different generations of AQ interconnects over the last few decades. The two big qualities are the conductor quality and dielectric type. Go for PSC+ over PSC. The difference is clarity and smoothness of texture. If at all possible go for interconnects with Teflon (FEP) dielectric. Openness and bass depth and pluck are optimized with this dielectric over the foam stuff.  The foam lends a slight haziness to th e sound.

MusicDirect is still closing out the previous line of Colorado interconnects at half original retail for brand new cables. A one meter pair is $450. I can speak with some authority of experience with them as my entire system is wired with the Colorados. Fantastic cables. Get ’em while they last!

Red River uses  Hard-Cell Foam
