Audiogon Music News July

Something of a quiet month on release news however as previously stated the music reviews section is being worked on in the background and hopefully this will appear in the not too distant future.

THE BLUE NILE-as already posted on Audiogon, August the 30th sees their new album High released.
Eight years in the making my fellow Glaswegians admit to jettisoning at least an albums worth of recorded material before settling on this current crop of songs.

JEFF BUCKLEY-Grace his debut is re-released in re-mastered form with another CDs worth of outtakes by Sony /Columbia on Aug. 22nd.

STEVE EARL-The Revolution Starts..Now is due out on Artemis US on the 24th August.

THE FINN BROTHERS-Neil and Tim have a new album out called Everyone One Is Here also due in August on Parlophone.

PAUL SIMON-As mentioned last month his entire solo back catalogue is available in re-mastered form with bonus tracks as individual albums or as a box set.
Out now the re-mastering is excellent on the disc Ive heard; Hearts And Bones.

NICK CAVE AND THE BAD SEEDS-Have just about finished their new record entitled Abattoir Blues/The Lyre Of Orpheus a double CD produced by Nick Launay.
Mick Harvey the bands guitarist has already heralded it as their best album ever.
Its due sometime in September.

MARK KNOPFLER-Has a brand new solo album entitled Shangri-La out on Sept.27th produced by the man himself and Chuck Ainlay.

Not a lot I know but as always more later ..

Ben -

I always look forward to your music updates. Uniformly well-informed and interesting.

Couvajazz couldn't agree more on the Paul Simon point.

Also forgot to list Bjork who has a new album in August her music whether your taste or not always features impressive production quality.
The re-mastered re-issue of Paul Simon's "Hearts and Bones" is fantastic, and deserves a very strong recommend. Both in sound and performance it is a superb addition to any collection.

For Jazz fans, I'd also recommend Charlie Haden's "The Montreal Tapes - Tribute to Joe Henderson". This is a live trio collaboration that truly clicks, again both in performance and sonics.
Also from the isles off the coast of Scotland - Mull Historical Society's "This is Hope" out this month (at least in the UK); hopefully it will be stateside soon ...

Badly Drawn Boy releasing stateside tomorrow ("One Plus One is One")
k.d. lang has a new cd coming out on Tuesday. It's called "hymns of the 49th parallel"... a compilation of
songs written by fellow Canadians. Included are works by Neil Young, Joni Mitchell, Jane Siberry and Leonard Cohen.
