Audio Consignment Shop In The New York Area?

Hello,

Can anyone recommend a good shop to consign a pair of speakers? I'm trying to sell a pair of ATC SCM100's and it's (understandably) a bit hard to move these in a private sale.

I appreciate any advice.

List them here for local pickup only. If the price is fair, someone will buy them. You'll never sell them on consignment. Dealers have very little motivation to move consignment items. They just put high prices on consignment and use it for store fill.

If you must try consignment, maybe use Stereo Exchange. Just expect to be treated like you're at a used car lot.

Neither Stereo Exchange nor TFtA will do consignment. They would buy them outright but for pennies on the dollar."

I can personally vouch for that statement. Dave from Stereo Exchange will definitely give you some pennies, and as few as possible.

I disagree with Craigs List, though. By all means try it. But I still think you'll have your best chance using Audiogon. You'll be reaching the right people, and over a larger area. ATC is not a big, well known brand, like some other speakers. But the following they do have is very loyal. As long as the listing price is fair, the speakers will sell, and there's a good chance they may come from a different state like PA, NJ, CT and all the other close states. That's why I say use AG.
