Are audiophile speakers turn on for single women?

I recently purchased a pair of speakers that I showed to a non-audiophile female friend of mine. She said they looked beautiful and asked how much they cost. When I told her, her jaw dropped. She then asked if I was using them to pick up hot chicks. Hmm...I told her the only people who get turned on by my audiophile speakers are balding middle-aged men. She had a laugh, but I wondered if anyone tried to impress a girl with his stereo system. High end is a male dominated hobby like sports cars. So have you found a woman who was turned on by your system. I have had no such look. I just get blank stares when I talk about my hobby to women.

"If you want to attract women, ultimately YOU are going to have to keep their attention, not your possessions."

Good point!
I learned years ago not to bother trying to impress women with your stereo system, including speakers.

Maybe if its in a red Ferrari.......
paper,

Congrats. That's a very well thought out assessment of how these things work in the real world!
"women do not have much interest in equipment, just results"

Well put.

A lot of men too I suspect. I care mostly about results, not what gets me there, though you cannot achieve the former without addressing the later.

Elizabeth, I appreciate your insight into why women like diamonds as well. I think I knew this but never thought about it quite that way before....
"I didn't select my speakers to turn on women"

Me neither.

But my OHM F5s are pretty ballsy as speakers go, if I may be allowed to brag a bit.

I've been considering trying some of that Axe stuff that they advertise on TV for cleaning certain alluded to naughty bits with them.

Yes, Hugh Hefner is the reference standard when it comes to knowing how to impress girls!
"It is the skill, athleticism and charm of an entertaining man that a single woman will go for - not a nerd with a big speaker."

Agree.

I think my my OHM F-5s are very rugged and manly, at least as speakers go.

They have yet to impress my wife or any other female that I am aware of yet though...
Maybe speakers are like dogs and tend to resemble their owners.

Might be some truth in that?

That might be a good scenario for speakers being a turn on for some women, but not for those speaker owners perhaps challenged in this regard otherwise.
Imo,

You are brilliant!

The secret to getting speakers to turn on a woman is BUY THEM FOR HER!!!!
Shortly after I met my wife in 1988, I gave her my Aiwa AD-6550 which was a very nice looking cassette deck to use with her piddling 70's vintage Lafayette all in one compact stereo (remember those?) in her apartment where the built in cassette no longer worked.

The rest is history.......
So for best odds with single women:

1) trim nose hair. Ear hair too!
2) impress them with speakers
"It amazes me that anyone would even pose this question."

I think amusement, and perhaps a bit of wishful thinking, is probably the point.
