If you can get to Somerset NJ, you could visit Charney Audio and hear their fery good speakers. They are very successful with working with single drivers-very dynamic, as you would expect, but also rich and smooth sounding. They are also very efficient, so they work with the best kinds of amplifiers, which tend to be low powered. I don’t own Charneys myself, but I like them. The speakers I tend to like the most are horn systems, bur mostly systems built around very old compression midrange drivers. I don’t like most modern horn systems as much. However, some Volti systems are decent. For the record, I heard Tekton Double Impacts and Moab speakers and liked them. I hope you can find someone to show you those.
If you can make a long road trip to the Washington DC area, you should check out custom horn systems built by Deja Vu Audio. They build very good systems to your requirements. Systems with only modern drivers start at $10k. Systems using old drivers and horns go up from there, some WAY up, but $30k will get you a system unlike any regular production speaker.
