Anyone here still rocks a DAT deck?

If so, what are your impressions? If you were to compare it to cassette tape and reel-to-reel? Thanks!

Looks like DATs were capable of 16/48 resolution, a little better than Redbook CD. So in terms of sound quality, they should be at least equal to CD, assuming equal quality DACs.

I didn't know that many albums were available on pre-recorded DAT tapes. And apparently the DAT format was popular in Japan through the early 00s.

Interesting

I am also realizing that, despite being a tape-based format, DAT is probably more aptly compared to CD than to cassette or reel-to-reel
