Anyone have/ordered the Job 225?

There's almost no consumer impressions of this amp on the internet... but the 6moons review is intriguing.

Knghifi,

I use a single Job 225 on my speakers and don't feel a need to use 2 amps. I have 2 Job amps, one I bought used on audiogon.
Knghifi,

It is one heck of an amp, but I don't go crazy on the volume. A friend who likes to listen a lot louder than I, was able to overdrive the amp. No harm done, but a little scary. Thank goodness I was not there.
Bc63,

Awesome! Thanks for your feedback. So I am not dreaming, huh.

This amp is just amazing. Get one while you can guys.
Hi Devilboy,

If you want the ultimate connection to your speakers, one modification is to solder your speaker cable right to the internal wires and bypass the terminals altogether. It would mean dedicating some speaker cables to the amp but ultimate performance would be much better.
One more on the way!

Thank you Job.

So I am thinking of trying one of these preamps with my Jobs.

Wyred4Sound STP-SE with Stage 2 upgrades

Thoughts? ....

I'm thinking of the W4S STP-SE w/ Stage 2 upgrades. It has a passive volume control until a certain point then turns active. My thought is that I will never approach the active volume control with the Job amp.
I thought about bi-amping but may just use the second one as back-up or in a second system. I have some gear for sale. I'll see what sells and maybe pick up the W4S STP-SE unit. I will buy the Job preamp as soon as they release it sometime next year.
Thanks Wisnon!

I am almost positive I'll get the W4S STP-SE w/ Stage 2 upgrade. I'll keep you posted.
I and many friends have the Job 225. We still stand by our opinion that it's a stellar performer, playing well above its price point. It's one reviewers opinion, and only that. I would never expect the Job to drive Magnepan speakers. It's a wonderful amp and should be seriously considered by someone who likes a three dimensional sound stage, articulate bass, great separation and a slightly sweet natural tone with great vocals.
I believe the Devore speakers sound amazing with the Job 225. It's a combo that I need to hear. I never would have thought my TAD CR-1's would work well, but I have to admit they sound superb with the Job. I am not one to play very loud and don't really push any of my amps. The Job is in my top 3 with only a Dartzeel 108 and CJ ART amps bettering it. I feel that strongly about the Job.
Having fun is what it's all about. Congratulations! It makes me happy to see you having a blast!

More New Jobs are coming

We continue working on new JOB models for 2014, including a preamplifier simple solution, a mono amp more powerful and maybe even a phono stage.... Please keep visiting this website for more information
I've said this before but here it is again: every time I listen to this amp, I shake my head in disbelief to the sound I'm getting.

Hi Devilboy,

I feel the same way. I've been through a lot of amps in my time. I still fantasize about some of the new more expensive latest and greatest amps but I ALWAYS come back to the Job 225 for it's amazing performance and natural sound. It's just so darn satisfying. When the Job preamp comes out, I am buying it. In fact, I will buy EVERY Job produce they release. Job is a supreme value in my mind.

Thank you Job Electronics for an amazing product.
Robertsong,

Specs on 2CE Sigs is as follows:

IMPEDANCE:
7 ohms nominal 4 ohms minimum.

SENSITIVITY:
86dB with 2.83 volts of pink noise input at 1 meter on axis.

RECOMMENDED AMPLIFICATION:
40 to 160 watts per channel into 8 ohms.

The Treo is similar. So my opinion is as long as you don't play concert level you will be fine. They are an easy impedance load so I would not worry. I bet you will be amazed at how good the Job 225 sounds.

Devilboy,

Yes. I should know the details is a few days and receive in a couple of months. Stay tuned.
Should be another 2-4 weeks before it all comes together. Sorry for the silence, I've been enjoying my system. :)
Devilboy,

My passive preamp should be home this week and the power supply next week.

Here is the website for the volume control:
www.aumacoustics.com/volumecontrol.html

The power supply is a Teddy Pardo Dual 12 - 2x12V 1A Power Supply

Richard Becker from Aum Acoustics built my passive.

He's a super nice guy.
Glory,

So glad that you are happy. I'd love your feedback on the planned mods. This little Job is amazing, and for the money, stellar! Thank you for validating my findings. I love mine.
The Job is an amazing amp. Clear, articulate and three dimensional in spades with a sweet voice. Maybe the "leanness" that you think you heard was just before the initial break in. The amp is so clear and natural that some may take it as a little lean at first, but it is far from that. Match the Job with a fairly benign load (preferably greater than 3 ohm) speaker, sit back and enjoy the glorious sound unfolding in front of you. Horn type speakers are absolutely stunning on the Job. You would not recognize my Klipsch Cornwall III's with this little amp. Absolutly wonderful. No matter what I hooked up to the Job (TAD CR-1, Sonus Faber Evolutions, Revel Studio2, Nola Grand Micro Reference, Klipsch Cornwall III, or inexpensive Pioneer monitors), they all sound great!
Hi Genjamon,

I am so happy that you've found the right combination. I appreciate the kind words and hope you enjoy your system for years to come. I love my Job and will never be without it. I even look forward to the upcoming mono blocks at the end of the year (hopefully).
I don't recommend the Job 225 for the Apogee Centaur. Maybe the mono blocks by years end.

Did you fancy the EAR 890?

Hi Glory,

Yes, I did. It's a great tube amp. When I bought mine there was a pinched wire that would cut out one channel. Once I got that straightened out, sound was warm (but not too warm) and wonderful, sweet and airy. A friend had to have it so I sold it to him. With the right speaker load (not to tough), it was a wonderful performer. I even had the 868 (?) preamp and that was a nice piece too.

Congratulations! You'll love it. Please start a new thread when you get it set up.
