Anybody heard the Modwright Linear Power supply with the Weiss 204 Dac?

ModWright makes excellent gear. I still regret selling my upgraded Oppo 205 disc player, what a beast. I'm convinced it sounded so good largely because of the big external LPSU they included. However it's tough to say how much came from that versus the rest of the mods (especially the Lundahl output transformers). Like I'm sure the ModWright PSU is very well done, but I can't say for sure how much that particular Weiss DAC responds to PSU upgrades in general.

Dan make good stuff though pricey.

I do have the Weiss DAC 204, but I haven’t taken the plunge on a power supply yet. Just wanted to let you know that The Music Room has one for $899.

I was considering a Plixir Elite BDC mk II, but the only US dealer doesn’t have any info on their site. I’m still a few months out, so more time to research. Good luck on your decision. 

I have the 204 and was an early purchaser of the ModWright PS for it. I did not compare it to other LPSs though, so can’t say how that would be. I decided on the ModWright based on Dan’s excellent reputation as a designer and the fact that he was designing the PS purposefully for the Weiss. The fact that it was an aesthetic match was a nice bonus.

I have been very happy with the purchase. Improvements in soundstage and imaging, and somewhat surprising to me was also an improvement in timbre. I did write up some of my thoughts about in the summer if I recall.

While I can’t help with comparisons, I can say I am a happy customer. Also, ModWright in general was terrific to deal with.
