Any Oracle Delphi MK1 expert here? Motor problems...

‘I’m sorry to say but that motor is 40+ years old.

you can try to replace the resistors. I would recommend upgrading to a new motor. Get into the Oracle website and view all their upgrades, or call them. Great people to deal with.

Besides the motor the only other thing to replace would be the truss pad. As you know Oracle makes rebuild kits for the suspension system.

 I had a MK 2 for 40 years and the motor (pancake motor DC) finally passed away in 2022. I decided my best option was to trade in my MK 2 for a new MK 6. Wonderful TT.

I have been in communication with Oracle, and as it right now I can't afford a new motor from them (it would be my best option tho), I took it apart and test all the components, some of them where out of specs, but the most important/concerning is my power adapter, according to the front label, output voltage should be 27vdc, after testing true output power is 35.84vdc, way to much, I just ordered all the bad components and a new power adapter, I hope this fixes the problem, until I can send my turntable to Oracle.

Sounds like you put a lot of time into your TT. Good for you. Experience is the best teacher.

Is your motor the pancake type?

‘Since you have been in touch with Oracle, they are most helpful with any of your issues. 
I only used the wall wart power supply for a very short period. On my MK 2 I purchased the ModSquad power supply. A good power supply makes a big difference. I no longer use the ModSquad PS. If you can get your motor working and it’s the same type that was on my MK 2, I would consider letting go of the ModSquad. I no longer have a use for it. The MK 6 uses a different motor. I purchased the Turbo PS for the MK 6.

When setting up your TT make sure everything is level.

Yes is the pancake type, I have put some time indeed. When I bought it, the rpm was slightly off, didn't keep the right speed after turning it off. That's when I decided to take apart the motor to check the circuit. Hopefully replacing all bad/ off specs components it can maintain the right rpm. Thank you for that Information,  may I ask how much those power supply cost? I also bought the service kit, I know is an old turntable but I love how it looks. I just finished fixing the original dust cover too, it looks great!

 I payed around $400.00 for my PS but that was 40 years ago. I believe Oracle no longer uses dc motors. The Turbo PS I purchased for my MK 6 was around $2K.

When you get your motor up and running properly, let me know if you have an interest in the ModSquad PS I have for the pancake motor. Maybe we can talk about it off line? I no longer have a use for it.
