Any Fans of Brahm’s Violin Concerto, opus77 ?

What recorded versions are your favorites, contemporary or historical?

128x128tuberist

That would be 100% of those who want to make a living with a violin and

98.8 % of those who truly love Classical Music .

1, Julia Fisher with the Netherlands Phil ., the hall is great and she is the best in the world.

2. . Gil Shaham with the Berlin Phil. /Claudio Abbado

He is the greatest American Violinist and he had the best Orchestra in the world

with a great man on the baton .

3. Nathan Milstein with William Steingburg and the Pittsburgh

The greatest player of his age and what I call " the cleanist "IF someone said he was 1 , I would not argue .

4..Jasha Heifetz, one on his best, but even more the Chicago with Reiner

played in a fantastic, legendary form !           I doubt if there is any full clip of any of these but I'try .

This is Julia Fisher . I lived 3 blocks from the Berlian Radio and have heard it live a hundred times , it is close to the Berlin Phil itself .

Julia is Julia .

t

A big, square, very Brahms-ian composition. I don't put it on the 'table often but I enjoy it when I do. My recording -- the Heifetz/Reiner/Chicago Symphony one on an RCA audiophile pressing.

Heifetz Reiner 1955 recording for my favorite. Thanks for posting some of your favorites for me to check out

Ditto...  Milstein (EMI Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra - Steinberg) is a fantastic performance. Sound is excellent for a 65 year old recording.

Milstein does a stunning Brahms but he is also my favourite in Bach.

Julia is a mean player also and I know 5559 has a soft spot for her.

Leonidas Kavakos does a soaring Brahms nobly assisted by Riccardo Chailly and the Leipzig Gewandhaus Orchestra.

5559 also has s big love of the Leipzig Gewandhaus, used to go there with

my wife often .   6$ for 2 in East Germany .

Today Munich booted their Russian baton man, Gergier , for him praising Puten .

Go Germany ! Germany is also sending their fighters to fly the Polish border .

The German head is looking firmly into eyes , its 2022 not 1939 .

Talking about Gergiev , can anyone make out any of those sill finger movements of his when he is conducting it looks like he is picking food from his plate and flicking it to the orchestra. Way to go Germany !!!
