And now batting...Bose 10.2 Series II

Let's get this out of the way - I like certain Bose speakers. My first pair were the 601 Series II way back in 1985. Still love the way they look. My ex got them years back. I've had 901 Series VI twice, 301 Series II twice, and a few others along the way.

The speakers themselves isn't the real reason I'm posting this.

It's this: The gentleman I purchased them from yesterday is the original owner, having bought them in 1990, and they have been in use since then until just recently when he decided to swap them out (Tannoy's he told me). He listened to the same pair of speakers for 35 years!!! They're in spectacular shape, almost like new.

But damn, 35 years with the same pair. That blows my mind since I swap out speakers pretty regularily. By "regularily" I mean a few days to a few weeks. A few months at most, then I crave someting different and swap them out. Easy to do this since I have probably 25 pairs of speakers stored in various rooms of my house.

35 years? That's a serious commitment.

I have a pair of speakers that I've had since new from back in '95, so about 30 years old, but those I haven't had in my system for eons. Available, but not used. The same speakers for 35 years is hard for me to comprehend. Hell, I've had three different pairs within the past two weeks.

BTW, the 10.2's sound pretty nice. Okay, more than "pretty nice". They sound pretty damn good!

Cheers, all.

I bought a pair of Bose 601 "direct/reflecting" speakers in 1978.  Had them in my system for 15 years.  Moved to a set of Martin Logan electrostatics and kept them in play for 25 years.  My current SoundLab Majestic 745s will likely outlive me, so yes, there are music lovers out here who keep their speakers a long time.  And in mint condition. 😁      Cheers.
